There are four devices on most networks that can have an impact on internet connectivity, the Cable or DSL modem, the router, the network switch and the server. If your internet appears to be down, please follow these troubleshooting steps before calling your service provider.

  1. Look at the front panel of your DSL or Cable modem and note any error lights that may appear.
  2. Look at the front panel of your router and note any error lights that may appear.
  3. Reboot the DSL or Cable modem and wait two minutes for it to fully initialize.
  4. Check your internet connection by attempting to browse to a website.
  5. If you still cannot connect, reboot the router, wait two minutes for it to fully initialize, then repeat step 4.
  6. If you still cannot connect, reboot the switch that the server is plugged into, wait two minutes for it to fully initialize, then repeat step 4.
  7. If the above steps do not resolve your connection issue it is time to contact your service provider. You should also open a DCS Support Ticket so that I can monitor the situation.
